About Us

New Life Foundation, which was founded in Vavuniya on 10.10.2016 by Mrs. Punithawathy Nadaneswaran living in London and running with the support of Sri Lankan residents Mrs. Thuraisamy Thilagawathy, Reverend Vimal, and other members of the Tamil diaspora, is there to support the differently abled men and women who have been affected by the nation's Civil War by providing for their basic welfare needs such as food, clothes, shelter, and healthcare and securing their future.

Later in 2018, due to shortage of space, a new place having the address 290, Sebathiyar Road, Parathipuram East, Kilinochi was temporarily gifted. The place currently houses differently abled men. The differently abled women and some of the men have left the place to join their families. The place is currently taking care of those who are unable to join their families and take care of their future. 

Due to the influx of university students into the New Life Foundation in 2019, the foundation started implementing economic programmes for women-led families as well as families with various hardships in the North, East, and Upcountry. Under these programmes, the foundation helps with agriculture, water supply, creating a market for local production, empowering women-led families, supporting the innovation of youth, sports, arts, culture, educational development including programmes for underprivileged students from rural areas, and supporting differently abled university students as well as orphans. Moreover, our foundation is able to provide whatever social services it can with our university student members acting as volunteers and representatives to examine the requests for help from people and confirm whether they require help or not, and, if they are in need of help and can accept it, provide the help and monitor the implementation of the help. In this way, NLF is striving to improve the economic conditions of those in need.

After undertaking various projects last year, this year the NLF is focused on empowering those who produce locally, prioritizing women. We are waiting for other organizations looking to provide similar services to join us in this journey.
